The first in a series, S.M. West's Red, my first novel by this author, was a gripping and suspenseful read that kept me guessing from start to finish on what would happen next. Telling the story of Rylan, an undercover cop trying to break the case of his career and comes across Tate, the Mafia King's daughter. For so long she had looked at her father as her hero, loving him like any daughter would. Only as she saw more of the truth of the life that they live, Tate's heart closes off more than she could have imagined, turning towards Rylan, hoping he won't betray her.

  


Secrets and a carefully constructed history is what has kept Rylan alive during his mission but Tate makes him rethink it all. S.M. West has managed to take a story and make it come alive with her words. To make Tate and Rylan more real than I could have ever imagined. With all the drama, angst, suspense and that added bonus of romance that will make you cross your fingers for some good news after all these two have gone through. With my first taste of S.M. West's writing, I can't wait for more from her!
