Alex~ I never imagined I would end up a single mother, yet here I am raising three teenage girls on my own. I rarely get time to myself, let alone time to meet someone else. After all those years I’d spent with Shannon, I’m not even sure I want to. When Nicholas comes along, passion hits me like a freight train. He consumes me in the most wonderful way and I don’t ever want it to end. Then I find out who he really is and everything changes. We can’t happen. I can’t be with him, no matter how deep he buried himself inside my pants, my life or my heart. Nick~ I’ve wanted Alex for as long as I can remember. Seeing her across the bar that night, I knew our time had come. I had to have her. I wasted no time taking exactly what I wanted, getting her underneath me that very night. For a while, things are perfect. For once, I’m truly and completely happy. Being with Alex is the most amazing thing to ever happen to me during my entire miserable existence. Then she finds out who I am and everything changes. She becomes afraid and refuses to continue things with me ... with us. But what Alex doesn’t get is, she’s everything I’ve ever wanted since I was old enough to see just how sexy a woman is. She will be mine.

I have to say that GM Scherbert surprised me with this book. Readers are treated to her short story that is about Shannon and Alex, and Shannon's battle with cancer. I won't lie, I cried, and so damn hard too since my own grandmother battled breast cancer and ultimately lost her battle the day after I finished the short story. So relating to everything that this family went through was more than possible and realistic. The way Alex felt even after so many years later - more than understandable. It was a quick read (which took me longer for the obvious reasons) and yet, it didn't feel rushed. I will admit that I was surprised to realize that Nicholas wasn't quite 30 compared to Alex's almost 40, but the way that Nicholas commands himself and Alex, makes him seem older.

It's hot and absolutely sexy - GM Scherbert definitely knows how to write scenes where readers can lose themselves with the characters. The emotions these two felt were incredibly intense and raw, that there's no denying that instant love is possible and betrayal cuts deeper than I would have expected it to. I loved this novel by GM Scherbert and I can't wait to read more from her in the future and see, not only where this series will lead me, but to meet more of her fascinating characters.
